I got my first bull terrier in 1982 and have been active in the breed ever since. I helped start two regional bull terrier clubs, and two bull terrier rescues. I served as a trustee for the Rescue Welfare and Trust Fund of the Bull Terrier Club of America for eight years and answered their hotline. I also served as president of the Bull Terrier Club of America for four years. I live in Gilbert with my husband and daughter and seven bull terriers. I board dogs for club members and friends and enjoy helping people with this crazy wonderful breed! I love bull terriers.

Bull Terriers became part of my life over 35 years ago. It was a perfect match because these dogs are stubborn and mischievous, just like me! I’ve had both males and females, but my heart dog is a white boy named Hooty Hoot. He sired a litter of ten with his housemate, Annie, and let me tell you, our home certainly became a “hootenannie”! As secretary of this club, I enjoy planning and participating in the club events which promote this fun, clownish breed. Right now I am in a holding pattern, waiting patiently for the next ‘kid in a dog suit’ to take over my couch and my lap, jump on my head in bed and look me in the eye and say “you want me to do what?”

Hi, I’m Sara Pinheiro and I live in Arizona with my husband Matt and our two Bull Terriers, Wick and Khaleesi. Like most Bull Terrier owners, I quickly learned that we don’t really own them. They run the house and we just pay the bills. I love being part of the Bull Terrier community and connecting with other people who understand the joy, chaos, and endless entertainment that comes with this amazing breed. When I’m not being supervised by Wick and Khaleesi, I enjoy crafting, running my small business, and helping with club events.

My love of Bull Terriers started in 1980. My dad was in St. Joseph’s hospital for heart surgery. While visiting, Eric and I saw a man walking a white Bull Terrier. Eric said,“That is the only kind of dog I want.” So, when we purchased our first home in March 1983, I immediately started looking for a white female. We connected with a local breeder at Black Mountain Feed store in Cave Creek, it was a Saturday in May. I never put Brindie down, she went home with us that day. She was 6 weeks old. I met Kim Bebb in November of 1983 at a dog show. I was interested in showing Brindie. Kim connected us to a Breeder in Ohio and we got Dexter, in the spring of 84. Dexter was an all white male who was quite the showman and our first Champion. We did want a colored female and I loved the Iceni dogs. We made the trip to Washington and met with Lynne Myall and through her we connected with the Oppelt’s and brought Steffie, a brindle female, home in October of 1986. These three lived long and happy lives. Steffie passed in November of 2000 at 14.5 years old. We went without a Bull Terrier until July 2004, when Kim called and told me I absolutely needed this male puppy. Chunk became my heart dog. I adored him and he adored me. Through Chunk we had Jenny, his great granddaughter, and Mabel, his great great granddaughter. I also co-owned his daughter Sugar, his grand daughter, Cleo and his great grandson Phillip, with Kim. Mabel passed in January. This has left a hole in my heart as it is the end of a wonderful era of owning this cherished breed. I was a founding member of the Central AZ Bull Terrier Club in 1984. I helped start the Saguaro State Bull Terrier Club in 2005 and have served on its board each year. We have created a great club for all Bull Terriers and their owners. I have many wonderful friendships through our shared love of Bull Terriers.
Treasurer- Denise Ryan McKee
I was born in St Paul, MN graduated from the University of MN. I worked in Social Services for my entire career. I moved to Tucson AZ in the 70’s and fell in love with AZ but I couldn’t seem to stay put. I moved between MN and AZ four times. Finally, in 2015 I moved back to AZ for keeps. I have had Bull Terriers since 1990. I love this quirky, unusual, comical breed. My current bully is Toby. He’s my sixth Bull Terrier. He came from the Saguaro State Bull Terrier Rescue. After fostering him and getting way too attached, I formally adopted him, 2018 and I can’t imagine life without him.

I am from Phoenix, AZ and like many AZ natives grew up hunting, fishing, and exploring the great state of AZ. I have worked and played over 30 years in the motorcycle industry with extensive travel in and out of the USA. I met my wife
Nicole while we both worked at the Harley- Davidson Motor Company in Milwaukee, WI. My first interactions with Bull Terriers were with a co- worker while traveling in the Netherlands and next with a Harley-Davidson dealer in Mexico. Our first Bull Terrier Jemma came to us in 2010 and we were blessed to have had almost 16 years with her. We live in Glendale, AZ with our 3 amazing kids and Bull Terrier, Hector.

The SSBTC meets quarterly at various places and times designated by the board of directors. We host training classes, handling classes, bully walks, events to fundraiser for rescue, and other varied activities of interest to members and bull terrier Aficionados.
